Rosalía Banet has created especially for OA several objects in which she recreates her particular imaginary.
This is how the artist tells us about it:
“The Siamese twins Sara Li and Ana K have become famous cooking their feelings according to human recipes. From their sweet and sour canning factory and their restaurant, the Sweet-tooth girls provide us, on the one hand, with their pain, their loneliness and their fears, and on the other hand with all their love. Their cooking is cannibal, so that it is full of a series of symbols which pretend to nourish our mind more than our stomach.
After years of intense work, they have kept in their larder all type of leftovers. There, the bodies are plentiful and varied; there are women in love, confused men, old men full of memories and children full of hopes, short and dangerous women, smiley fat men, bearded women, and no end of identities. Meanwhile, in the refrigerator, the remains of the main recipes have been accumulated; every type of body parts that have not been selected but that have been waiting calmly the moment to be used as they know that the sisters do not throw away anything.
They are separated according their characteristics; there are tins full of wishes, tins of love, trays with hopes and dreams, cans of self-controlled anger, pasta made of fault, barrels full of anguish, sadness and fears.
After thinking about it, at last, the Siamese twins have decided and have designed a series of pendants with the leftovers of their best recipes.
They have created pendants with the heads that they have accumulated in their cupboard. Although they are very similar because they have been made with a minimum of elements and they have very few features that define them, each of them has its own identity, its own shape, colour and expression: there are no two same ones.
Making the most of the very large bodies, they have cut some skin strips and they have rolled them around their own pities in order to give the spiral shape that they have at the moment. This way, they have given them the power of the amulets which protect them from the evil part of the soul. Besides, against another evil element, the evil eye, the Siamese twins have created the “eye biscuits” which heal the envious men and protect the coveted men as these biscuits absorb the power and maintain it warm.
Finally, they have created an intimate series, that is, a series of hearts in love which are full of grandeur of love and wish in order to fulfil the most anxious appetites.”
The pendants are already available in OA Madrid
